Learning uncertainty conference and the Reykjavik MidSummit

When I listen to the aircraft passing over our house on weekends, I am already inside and on my way to a wonderful conference
Whenever I see pictures of the Northern lights or speak to people from Iceland, I really want to go there. I want to book my seat to Reykjavik but it does not seem as if my favourite airlines provide frequent flights there nor are sightings of the northern lights guaranteed, so up to now, I cannot claim that I visit this obviously lovely country.

However, a wonderful opportunity for academics in presenting itself in the form of an oeb MidSummit to discuss and explore the future of learning on 8 and 9 June 2017, costing 890 Euros plus 24% VAT. This is a new event under the oeb flag and promise to be really worth the trip. The list of speakers will be updated constantly on the web page but already there are a number of people that I would like to listen to.

On the main page of the oeb (global), the call for papers for the Berlin meeting, 6-8 December 2017 is already open and so is suggestions for the expansion of the programme (until 29th May). The theme for this year's conference is Learning Uncertainty, a topic all of us can associate with.

A large number of academics and educators received their education and training during the industrial era and therefore have difficulties to adjust to the evolving technology based, network era where the focus is on the individual student - in contrast to the one-size-fits-all approach of the industrial era. Together with the shift towards focusing on individuals, the methods of teaching and learning also changed to blended and multi-media and finally there is also a shift in assessment from the trusted 'tests and exams' to alternative and transformative assessment methods. It is also true that the older generation is moving out of the academic workforce and the millennials are rapidly taking their places at the bottom and not so low spaces. Therefore, the learning uncertainty that we are currently working with, is just the right theme for stimulating a very interesting oeb 2017 conference.
